Gateway Supports World Renowned Cancer Research Centers

Every year millions of lives are impacted by cancer. From new patients being diagnosed to loved ones learning that people they care about have cancer to those who live with the disease. At Gateway for Cancer Research (Gateway) we are committed to a vision of improving cancer treatments for patients of today and curing the disease for those of tomorrow. Learn how you can help us in the realization of our goals by making a cancer research donation to Gateway today.

Funding Innovative Cancer Research Centers

At Gateway we are committed to one sole purpose – curing cancer. Through funding patient-centered clinical studies that deliver innovative options for cancer treatment, we are striving to help those afflicted with this disease today, not down the road. Our approach in identifying and pursuing new clinical studies and progressive treatments that utilize cutting edge medical technologies and practices incorporates both conventional and complementary treatments.

Some of the elements that make Gateway a unique funder of innovative cancer research centers include:

  • We focus on research that can have an immediate impact on patients today – not 5 or 10 years down the road.

  • We only fund research – not outreach or education programs.

  • We encompass the latest applications of conventional therapies as well as the best science-based complementary medicine.

  • We only support clinical based studies – we don't participate in test tube stage experiments or employ the use of laboratory animals.

  • 99 cents of every dollar donated is applied directly to cancer research programs – not administrative costs.

Cancer research donations made to Gateway are only used in pursuit of advancements in cancer research that can have an impact on the patients of today. Unlike many cancer research centers, and not-for-profit institutions in general, 99¢ of every cancer research donation is applied directly to funding research programs.

Make a cancer research donation today. There are a variety of convenient methods available for donating money including Online, by mail, and by phone. Cancer research centers are working to change the face of cancer today and forever, but they are dependant on the help of the generous contributions which make it possible.

Sarcoma Research

A sarcoma is a cancer of the bone, cartilage, fat, muscle, blood vessels, or other connective or supportive tissue. While sarcomas make up less than 1% of all cancers, treatment is difficult due to the existence of more than 70 varieties. Sarcoma research programs supported by Gateway. Funded research include:

Combined Treatment of Soft Tissue Sarcoma

Combining external beam radiation with intratumoral injection of dendritic cells this sarcoma research is working to improve treatment options for high risk soft tissue sarcoma patients.

This cancer research could potentially develop a new treatment approach for patients with a poor prognosis with standard therapy. Additionally, it could later prove to be useful in the treatment of other cancers.

Melanoma Research

Incidences of malignant melanoma are increasing at a faster rate than any other cancer in the United States. While it is true that melanoma can be very treatable when caught early, it can also prove to be more complicated when it is allowed to advance. Melanoma research grants have been funded by Gateway through cancer research centers focused on a variety of advancements including the following:

    Combination Immunotherapies for Malignant Melanoma

With the incidence of melanoma increasing faster than any other cancer in the United States this melanoma research study is exploring the potential for vaccine strategies. Anti-melanoma immunity augmentation may prove therapeutic.

Antiangiogenic Therapy of Melanoma Precursor Lesions

This melanoma research study has produced data that clearly indicates that interferon treatment inhibits the blood supply and growth pathways of melanoma precursor lesions. The potentially therapeutic therapy discovered in this study has been published in two peer-reviewed journals.

An Anti-Melanoma Vaccine Based on Autologous Dendritic Cells Loaded with Allogeneic Standardized Lysate: Phase I/II Study

This melanoma research is focusing on immunotherapy treatments using dendritic cells which have the ability to stimulate the immune system. Utilizing dendritic cells, an innovative method to enhance the vaccine process, this research study shows great potential.

Cancer Research Donations

Whether it goes to melanoma research, sarcoma research or research about any other type of cancer, your cancer research donation will go to cancer research, as you had intended with your support. With 99¢ of all donations going directly to research programs, you can feel confident that your contribution is going to research and not to cancer research center administrative fees.
